Numerous Thefts – Arrest: E21-1725
Members of the Property Crime Unit have arrested a male for numerous theft-related offences.
It is believed that between January 1, 2021, and March 25, 2021, a male suspect attended various Winnipeg locations (primarily dog parks, daycares and cemeteries). The male would often wait until individuals parked and break into vehicles where a wallet or purse had been left behind. He would then steal the contents and make fraudulent purchases at nearby establishments.
There were also three occasions where a male suspect entered a house while the occupant was busy outside of the residence and stole contents from within.
A suspect was identified, and on March 25, 2021, he was placed under arrest.
Gregory Francis Courchene, a 49-year-old male of Winnipeg, has been charged with:
- Theft Under $5000 (x56)
- Break, Enter, Commit (x3)
- Unauthorized Use of Credit Card Data (x80)
He was detained in custody.
